Barry Simmons (born 1948) was the winner of the BBC Two show Are You an Egghead? and as a result became the sixth Egghead, joining Kevin Ashman, C. J. de Mooi, Daphne Fowler, Christopher Hughes and Judith Keppel on the regular show on 2 December 2008.
On winning the series, Barry said:
Other than my wedding day and the birth of my two wonderful children, it was simply the happiest day of my life. I couldn't believe that I had won such a challenging competition against such a strong field.[1]
Simmons is from Leeds, West Yorkshire. He won £64,000 on 5 February 2005 edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and was a semi-finalist on Mastermind and has represented England at quizzing.
